Weekly update on Feb. 1, 2019

We hope you all are doing fine in this exciting and lovely winter season! Happy February! Valentine's Day is coming! 

Here's our current news. 

This Sunday we are doing an EXPERIMENT, a service devoted to families, food, fellowship and fun. It's called The Living Room, because it will be like having a big family reunion lunch in a place we call home. 

It'll start at 12:00 PM with a special, really really special meal and then fellowship and having a good time together. After the lunch ends, we'll dissolve into a chaos of pingpong, board games, jumping in on the clean-up, musicians making it all lively, chasing kids, having kids chase you, hugging, not wanting to leave, etc. etc., just where God wants to be, this SUNDAY at twelve noon. (Yes, not at 10 a.m.; it starts at noon.)

This week's TribeNet meeting featured an amazing testimony from Joshua Holmes, 2nd gen college student, CARP ass't leader out in LA, and his mom and dad like having 1 or 2 or 8 or 10 freakin' college students listening to DP lectures in their HOUSE, and Joshua's like, O man I really think we CAN build the kingdom of heaven! Oh yes, we do have three special days approaching: True Heavenly Parents Day (originally called God's Day) Feb 5, True Parents Birthday, Feb 10, and Foundation Day, Feb 17. Stay tuned for the international broadcast schedule and our local celebration schedule. 

On the occasion of Father and Mother's birthdays, which fall on the same day, we will offer our present as one united Heavenly USA.

The ACLC national planning meeting and True Family Values Banquet in Chicago is getting underway as we speak. Rev. John Kirkley, our new Charlotte church pastor, is on the scene. New national ACLC leadership: co-chairs Dr. Ki Hoon Kim and Dr. Luonne Rouse (UMC clergyman, UTS professor). Former co-chairs Dr. Michael Jenkins and Archbishop George Augustus Stallings are now directing UPF America and IAPD (Inter-Religious Association for Peace and Development, USA) respectively. 

Random Reminder: For those who want to make an offering for the liberation and Blessing of their ancestors, Tyler would be glad to convey that directly to the office at CheongPyeong. For information, go here: Liberation and Blessing. 

Thank you to our clean up volunteers. This week the clean up is being organized by the Asada and Mundula families. Remember: cleaning up gives you and your family an all-expenses paid ticket to get into Heaven, no questions asked.

Thank you to our lovely couple Rev. Mamoru and Caroline Uyama for representing our local church and state at the TribeNet conference in Las Vegas last week. We hope that what happened in Vegas won't stay in Vegas!

There is an ACLC national planning meeting and True Family Values Banquet in Chicago, Jan 31-Feb 3. Our new ACLC national co-chair, Dr. Ki Hoon Kim, is inviting every location to send an ACLC representative. Rev. John Kirkley, our new Charlotte church pastor, will represent North Carolina there. 

Our very own Rev. Joshua Angelucci is now working full-time for National Headquarters as the head of IT Development. Their first project is to build an app to help members keep track of people they are blessing and reaching out to. Thanks be to God he will stay in town and keep serving as our part-time pastor. 

This Sunday, our very own Sammy Uyama will be giving the message. Sammy is Director of the High Noon. Check out High Noon at https://www.highnoon.org. He and YiGyu as you probably know are living in Korea and they had their first little baby cutie pie lovabu girl a few months ago. High Noon is advancing around the world by leaps and bounds and I'm sure Sammy will fill us in this Sunday. We're totally looking forward to it. 

Next Sunday, February 3, our church will transform into The Living Room and it all will begin at 12:00 noon instead of 10:00 a.m. This is a guest-friendly service featuring good food, family fun, down-home music, open-heart surgery, I mean, open-heart fellowship, and a personal testimony about the Blessing. Please come and bring a friend along.

Tyler will be speaking at the High Noon Summit in the Bay Area on Feb 2. Pray for him because he's going to talk about God's Hope for Sex. No, really, that's what they want him to talk about! But he'll be back in time for the Living Room on Feb. 3. 

Also Tyler is going to the Birthday and Foundation Day celebrations in Korea. For those who want to make an offering for the liberation and Blessing of their ancestors, Tyler would be glad to convey that directly to the office there. For information, go here: Liberation and Blessing

A big thank you from all of us in the Triangle Family Church to Theresa Asada and Won Jin Bowman, our outgoing Council members. Their two years of service is really appreciated. We welcome new Council members Benjy Uyama and Hidetsugu Asada.

Thank you to Bob for lining up a company to restore the chapel's emergency exit door. We are just about to close the deal, and the work should begin in mid-February.

Weekly Update on Jan. 17, 2019

Dear Sisters and Brothers,

This Saturday is game night from 4:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m.  If you want to see what our church looks like full of energetic, cheering and shouting people, come to game night.

To honor Martin Luther King Day, this Sunday will be an Ecumenical Service. Benjy Uyama will give the main message, plus we will have a special message from our friend Carolyn Sampson, President of our Women's Federation for World Peace, and her friend from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  

And what's more, our council election will be this Sunday! 📣 We have two spaces to fill and two volunteers to fill them, Hidetsugu Asada and Benjy Uyama. 

Rev. Joshua, Benjy U. and Tyler H. attended the Y A Y A M  C o n f e r e n c e in Maryland last weekend and will share their experiences and inspirations, and we'll talk about our amazing schedule for February. If you don't know, YAYAM stands for "Youth And Young Adult Ministry." No, really, we didn't know either until somebody told us. 

Thanks to our volunteers who clean up the church each week.  This week the clean-up is being organized by Tyler Hendricks family and In Soo Hendricks family.

Jan. 4, 2019 weekly update

This week's message will be given by Pastor Joshua Angelucci.

We will have a Community Meeting after the church service this Sunday. It will be an opportunity for all members to hear our Pastor's discussion of goals for 2019, prepare to elect our new Council members, and focus for great success in the new year.

The SR2 Youth and Young Adults Ministry (YAYAM) Retreat will be from Jan. 11-13 in Maryland. We want to pass on to you some wonderful words about this from our Oceanside Pastor, Junko Hasebe: 

"The ideal participation from each community is Young-Adults with parents, pastor and/or YAYA ministry leader. 

"I understand that Young Adults stand in very hard positions in each Community, because the Parents' Generation often has high expectations of them instead of trusting them or trying to understand or support them as they struggle to achieve an ideal balance between faith and their independent life.

"I think they need support from the Church, then they will be able to understand deeply of their precious life given to them from God and True Parents.

"That's why Jongsook invited not only Young Adults but Parents and Pastor or YAYA ministry leaders to come to the Retreat.

"I understand the practical reasons it may be hard to participate, but we would like everyone who is reading this, please consider participation OR how to support someone else to participate from our Community with your generous love."

That's it from Junko. From Triangle Family Church Pastor Joshua, our YAYA ministry leader Benjy, and Tyler are going to attend. Tyler was invited to give a presentation answering lots of questions young adults have. We hope more can go!
