We are a local branch in Durham, NC of FFWPU (Family Federation for World Peace and Unification).

We would like to announce some changes in leadership in Heavenly Parents' Holy Community of North Carolina.
After many wonderful years of service, Reverend Klaus Schick is stepping down as the state lead pastor. He and his wife Mary Ellen have done a wonderful job building up and caring for the various communities within North Carolina. They plan to continue to pursue HTM activities in and around the Charlotte area.
We are happy to announce that Alan Saunders Will become the new state pastor and state leader of North Carolina. We want to warmly welcome him with his many years of character education Curriculum development both here in America and around the world. We know this will bring an added benefit to his leadership over the next few years as we continue to develop ways to reach top influencers in all fields of society and begin to expand our Heavenly Parents' Holy Community in North Carolina and throughout District One and our entire Southeast Subregeion.

Alan Saunders - Brief Biography
Alan Saunders is President and CEO of Saunders Consultancy LLC. He conducts teacher training workshops, seminars, and courses aimed at empowering business leaders, teachers, administrators, community leaders, student leaders, social workers, and parents to implement and teach character education, leadership training, ethics, and interpersonal communication skills enhancement. He is the chairman emeritus of the Conference of Non-Government Organizations (CoNGO) Committee on HIV/AIDS for organizations that have consultative status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) at the United Nations. He is the educational adviser for the UNESCO Center for Global Education. Mr. Saunders has lectured and conducted workshops in ethics, character education and communication skills training in eighty four countries internationally and in the U.S.. He has spoken on panels at the United Nations, and gave a presentation on moral education and HIV/AIDS prevention to the Ambassadors at the African Union Headquarters of the United Nations. He moderated a session on World AIDS Day which was convened in the ECOSOC chambers at the UN in New York City. He has given several presentations at the Commission on the Status of Women conference on the topics of conflict resolution and empowering women in leadership roles in developing countries. Mr. Saunders holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Sociology and a Masters degree in education from UTS and the State University of New York(SUNY) in Albany, New York, Mr. Saunders has worked extensively in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean and Pacific islands, in Western and Eastern Europe, in Central and South America and in many states in the U.S. Through these experiences, he has developed an approach to education based on Socratic dialogue and philosophical reasoning from a multicultural and multiracial perspective. Mr. Saunders has worked as a consultant for the United Nations Development Program and worked with researchers in Ethiopia, Lesotho, Uganda and Nepal to produce the report: Hoping a Coping, A Call to Action, The Capacity Challenges of HIV/AIDS in Least Developed Countries for UNDP and UN-OHRLLS. He was the managing editor for the UPF character education curriculum Discovering the Real Me, that has been used in schools in Africa, the Caribbean and Pacific islands and in Asia. He attained the contract for the IEF book: Cultivating Heart and Character: Educating for Life’s Most Essential Goals that was published by the Character Development, Chapel Hill, NC. He was the lead instructor for the 21st century leadership program at William Paterson University in Wayne, New Jersey where he worked with college students to train middle school students to develop their skills in public speaking and debating. He is trained to teach the Seven Habits of Highly Effective Families program as well as other programs such as Compassionate Parenting by Dr. Stephen Stosny.
