Music Offering

Youth message

The speaker opens by emphasizing the divine and eternal nature of God’s word, grounding the message heavily in biblical scripture and True Parents' Words.

Key Insights and Conclusions
  • God’s word is eternal, living, and active, forming the foundation of spiritual life.
  • True spiritual maturity requires unity between words and deeds, reflecting integrity and noble character.
  • The foundation for this unity is God’s love, which elevates human action beyond self-interest.
  • The physical body is crucial for manifesting love and spirit in this life, providing a unique opportunity for spiritual growth.
  • Empty words and complaints are counterproductive; intentional, loving words and actions have lasting value.
  • Effective communication is essential not only spiritually but also practically, helping build trust, avoid conflict, and foster productive relationships both personally and professionally.
  • The principles of communication—clarity, listening, and empathy—are practical tools to live out the unity of word and deed.

Sermon - “Everything Is Beautiful in Its Time"

This sermon emphasizes the beauty and meaning inherent in every stage of life, rooted in God’s perfect timing and will. It encourages believers to embrace aging and life’s challenges with faith, to recognize the lasting power of human will and spiritual energy, and to find inspiration in both ancient scripture and contemporary cultural narratives like Demon Slayer. Ultimately, it calls for trust in God’s plan and the pursuit of a positive legacy that transcends time.

Key Insights and Themes

  • Everything is beautiful in its time, reflecting God’s perfect timing and divine order in life.
  • True purpose transcends worldly achievements and is found in faith, integrity, and appreciation of life’s stages.
  • Aging is a natural transition that may involve physical decline but increases inner beauty, wisdom, and spiritual depth.
  • The anime Demon Slayer provides a rich metaphor for spiritual struggle, contrasting selfishness (demons) with self-sacrifice (demon slayers), mirroring biblical concepts of light vs. darkness.
  • The human will is immortal, carrying purpose and legacy beyond physical life, connected through spiritual energy akin to quantum entanglement.
  • Historical figures like Jesus Christ and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. exemplify how positive spiritual energy shapes legacies that endure social and temporal challenges.
  • True Parents' movement represents a divine dream realized through human history, embodying God’s everlasting will.
  • Faith in God’s plan allows believers to embrace life’s beauty, purpose, and challenges with hope.

Transcripts

The title of my sermon is “Everything Is Beautiful in Its Time,” which comes from Ecclesiastes 3:11 in the Bible.

Ecclesiastes, a Bible book named from Hebrew and Greek words meaning "teacher," reflects on life's pointlessness without God, noting that achievements are temporary and death is inevitable. Ultimately, it suggests the true purpose lies in appreciating simple gifts from God and living with integrity.

We will begin by examining biblical foundations that speak about beauty and the significance of each stage of life. Then, we’ll reflect on aging and the wisdom that comes with life’s transitions. Next, we’ll explore philosophical insights inspired by the anime Demon Slayer. Finally, we’ll discuss the eternal influence of human will and energy in shaping legacy and spirit.

Let’s now turn to Ecclesiastes 3:11 together.

“He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.”

Let me also read the Easy English Bible version.

“God has chosen a good time for all things to happen. He has caused people to think about things that will continue forever. But nobody can completely understand everything that God has done, from the beginning of their lives to the end.”

The central message is that God controls all events with perfect timing, giving meaning and order to everything in the universe.

The script suggests that we should embrace and value the different stages of life—whether they bring happiness, challenges, growth, or calm—since each phase has its own significance and beauty.

Ecclesiastes is attributed to King Solomon, who famously asked God for wisdom. The book offers a philosophical perspective on how worldly things like pleasure, wealth, and knowledge can be, emphasizing that a life devoted only to these pursuits lacks true meaning.

If we can have such wisdom and view of life, our life will be much easier. However, it is not easy. As the script says, no one can completely understand God’s plan.

For example, aging isn't enjoyable for many people. I've noticed my eyesight is getting worse, making it difficult to read medicine labels and instructions on microwave food packages. At first, I wondered if manufacturers had started using smaller print, but my kids could read everything easily. That’s when I realized the issue wasn’t with the letter size—it was with my eyes.

As we age, we lose certain attributes like physical abilities and beauty. I apologize if mentioning the loss of beauty is sensitive, particularly to ladies. However, the beauty I refer to is purely physical appearance. In my view, our inner beauty grows with age, and older individuals are the most beautiful in God's eyes. During the HJ Cheon Bo workshop, I witnessed the beauty of unwavering faith and heartfelt passion of the senior first generation participants.

How can we recognize that everything is beautiful in its own time? To explore this question, I'm looking at the popular Japanese anime “Demon Slayer.” You might wonder why I'm discussing “Demon Slayer” during Sunday service instead of referencing True Parents' teachings. But I know “Demon Slayer” appeals to certain audiences. The story contains profound philosophical themes, drawing from Buddhism and Bushido—the way of the Samurai. Some people even believe that Demon Slayer incorporates Biblical ideas. There's a YouTube video titled “The Demon Slayer series is Biblical?”

It’s fascinating that a concept from the Bible verse I mentioned appears in “Demon Slayer” episodes. Below are scripts from the episodes.

Aging and dying are also the beauty of the fragile creature known as human beings.

The concept of eternity lives within the human’s will, making it both everlasting and immortal.

Throughout life, we lose material things like jobs, wealth, and health. Since everyone eventually loses these, aging and death seem daunting if our focus is on worldly matters. If we center our attention on God's will, even death becomes a transition planned by God. Aging helps us understand what truly matters. Aging often brings wisdom, perspective, and a deeper understanding of life, which can be seen as valuable qualities. The cycle of life, with its inevitable transitions, connects us to the past and future, highlighting the continuity of human experience.

The storyline of “Demon Slayer” follows Tanjiro Kamado, a young boy whose family is killed by a demon, with his younger sister Nezuko being the sole survivor who is turned into a demon. Tanjiro joins the Demon Slayer Corps to fight against demons and find a way to turn his sister back into a human. Demon Slayer Corps’s main goal is to protect people from demons and defeat the main demon who has been turning people into demons. The main demon is a figure like Satan.

Demons are immortal and heal from injuries much faster than humans. They do not experience aging or death. Yet, one thing can destroy them: sunlight. Demons cannot survive exposure to the sun. Demon slayers use special swords called the sun sword to fight against demons.

Why are demons unable to exist under sunlight? Naturally, immortal demons would be invincible without any vulnerabilities. Therefore, the author needs to assign them a specific weakness. This attribute may also serve as a symbol for a more profound theme: that demons cannot dwell in the light of day.

Across many faiths, the sun serves as a symbol of divinity. Sunlight often stands for hope, renewal, and the removal of darkness or despair.

The value demons have and their way of living are totally opposite to ones God put into His creation. Inability to live under the sun symbolizes that demons’ way of self centered living cannot coexist with God’s way of living for the sake of others.

Demons pursue worldly things such as power and beauty at the expense of others, while Demon Slayers risk themselves to protect people and fight demons. Their values are completely opposed.

Despite their differences, both demons and Demon Slayers share a history marked by pain. Many demons have struggled with poor health, poverty, or the loss of loved ones—a reflection of the suffering faced in a fallen world. Similarly, most Demon Slayers carry the burden of having lost loved ones to demons.

The leader of the Demon Slayer corps once declared, "the human will is immortal. The will of the Demon Slayer corps remains until its purpose is achieved." Inspired by these words, Demon Slayers channel their painful experiences into motivation, striving to fulfil this enduring will.

To engage intellectual young audiences, I will discuss quantum physics. Quantum physics explores matter and energy at their most basic level, examining how particles behave and interact. Among its most fascinating discoveries is quantum entanglement: particles that originate together remain linked, no matter how far apart they travel in space or time. Instead of keeping their original properties, these particles form a shared quantum state that persists. So, when one entangled particle is influenced, the change instantly affects the others connected to it.

Our body and mind or spirit are composed of quantum particles and energy. I believe the energy of our spirit is eternal, connected together, and affects each other even though quantum physics does not tell it. We can feel the energy of past people. We are the fruits of the energy and particles from the past people. That is why we inherit both good and bad elements from the past people. Most people have been struggling to leave good things behind to their descendants.

Let us reflect on the positive energy that remarkable individuals from the past have given to us. Looking at Jesus Christ through a secular lens during his lifetime, he was considered a criminal and was put to death. Yet, the influence he left behind remains pure and good. The energy Jesus imparted continues to profoundly shape countless lives for generations to come.

Until the 1960s, racial segregation was common in the United States and reinforced by "Jim Crow" laws. Many individuals initially viewed the Civil Rights movement as illegal. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. helped transform society by inspiring people’s conscience with his positive energy, which is evident in his renowned “I Have a Dream” speech.

Although True Parents and our movement have faced criticism from society and the media, the legacy they are creating will endure. The concepts of “True Parents” and “Blessing” mark a significant turning point in human history. True Parents shared that God’s dream was for Adam and Eve to become True Parents and offer Blessings to their children—a dream now coming true. God’s Will remains everlasting. When we focus on God’s Will, we start to see that “Everything Is Beautiful in Its Time.”

Life’s journey is filled with beauty, meaning, and purpose rooted in divine timing, personal growth, and enduring will. Embracing every stage with God’s wisdom and hope allows us to leave a positive legacy that transcends time and inspires others. Let us discover and fulfil God’s dream for each of us.
