Sermon: Power Of Testimonies

This heartfelt testimony explores the profound impact that personal and communal testimonies have had on the speaker’s faith journey and her relationship with prayer, Heavenly Parent, and True Parents. Reflecting on experiences from interviewing first-generation church members, participating in Chongpyong prayer workshops, and personal spiritual encounters, the speaker reveals three core messages derived from these testimonies: the deep love and sorrow of Heavenly Parent for humanity, the call to love family and others on behalf of Heavenly Parent, and the challenge to genuinely feel and attend to Heavenly and True Parents as one’s own. The speaker shares intimate stories, including a poignant spiritual connection with her late mother and transformative insights about her own father, illustrating how testimonies can foster healing, hope, and a deeper sense of belonging in the faith community. Highlights
  • First-generation testimonies reveal sacrificial history that strengthens community belonging.
  • Personal transformation: Speaker begins waking up at 5 a.m. to pray, inspired by others’ testimonies.
  • Many second-generation members experience Heavenly Parent’s apology and love during desperate prayer.
  • Emotional spiritual encounter: Speaker feels mother’s heart and unresolved resentment after 20 years.
  • Struggles with forgiveness and love for physical parents are common among second-generation believers.
  • Speaker repents and sees father with new compassion through Heavenly Parent’s eyes, leading to reconciliation.
  • Vivid prayer vision of True Mother’s suffering deepens personal empathy and connection to true parents.

Sunday school: Bible study - Stephen and Paul

Stephen’s story begins with service. The early church chooses him to help distribute food. The lesson emphasizes that ordinary acts of kindness matter to God.

Stephen demonstrates courage through forgiveness. He continues speaking about Jesus despite opposition and asks God to forgive those who hurt him. Saul witnesses what happens.

Saul initially opposes Jesus’ followers. He arrests believers, while those who flee carry their message to other places.

An encounter with Jesus changes Saul’s direction. On the Damascus road, a bright light stops him and he loses his sight. Ananias later prays for him, his sight returns, and he begins preaching about Jesus. Known later as Paul, he travels and writes letters included in the Bible.

The lesson connects the stories through the lasting influence of kindness. It presents Stephen’s example as helping shape the man Paul becomes.

Stephen never saw what became of Saul. People may never see the full effects of their kindness and courage.
